Current Programs
RUI originally began as strictly a therapeutic riding program for individuals with disabilities. Although this continues to be our primary mission, we feel it is important share our knowledge, strengths, and experience to reach others in our community. With that in mind, our programming continues to grow. We currently offer programs in Equine Assisted Activities & Therapies (EAAT) and Able-Bodied Lessons. We are researching the potential benefits of offering Hippotherapy, driving, mental health therapy, and Horses for Heroes.
EAAT - open to individuals 4 years old and older who have been diagnosed with a disability
and referred by their physician to participate. This program incorporates therapeutic riding
and training for competition in challenged and Special Olympics horse shows.
The EAAT program is offered through four session each year. Spring, Summer and Fall
Sessions are 10 weeks long, Winter Session is 5 weeks long. During each session, riders
receive weekly 1-hour long lessons. Lessons are currently offered on Monday, Wednesday
and Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM and 7:15 PM. There are also Friday lessons
from 10:00 AM to Noon for SANDCO Day Array Adults.
Costs - $250.00 per Session (Spring, Summer, Fall) and $125.00 (Winter).
