Magnum aka "Mags" or "Manny": 22 year old buckskin Quarter Horse gelding
Manny was donated to Riders Unlimited, Inc on July 28, 2010 by Cathy Black. He was a quirky guy with lots of personality and spunk. In April 2015 he unexpectedly choked on his feed. He never fully recovered from the choke and developed other related respiratory issues. He passed away on May 8, 2015. He was laid to rest beside Razi and Zado. |

Zado: 29 year old chestnut Percheron/Quarter Horse gelding Zado participated in Riders Unlimited, Inc. in 2003 and then became a permanent part of the family in 2005. He was our solid rock. In February 2015, he was diagnosed with cancer in his jaw which then grew and spread into his tongue making it impossible for him to eat or drink. He was humanely euthanized and laid to rest on Friday, April 17, 2015. Raz Ma Taz aka "Razi" and "Razicorn": 15 year old grey Shetland/Welsh gelding Razi came to us on loan from Mimi Pantelides, Nashville, TN, in March 2014. Throughout the summer he became our PR pony as Razicorn. He started having lameness issues which involved blowing several absesses in his left front hoof. No matter what we tried, we just couldn't get his hoof healthy. It was finally determined that the tissues and bones deep inside his hoof were deteriorating. Chances for ever getting him to heal and be healthy again were very slim. Being that his quality of life was being destroyed, it was decided to humanely euthanize him on April 17, 2015. He crossed the rainbow bridge with Zado, and Razi now rests for eternity cradled in Zado's legs. Sweetie: 30+ year old grulla Rocky Mountain mare Sweetie came to RUI in 2009. She had the softest coat we've ever felt and such a wonderful disposition. Her smooth gaits were superb. She was retired from riding in 2012 due to arthritis, but was still a part of ground lessons due to her gentle nature. During the 2012/2013 winter, the cold weather made her arthritis worse and then she started showing signs of neurological issues. After a serious fall in the arena, it was decided that it was in her best interest to prevent any future suffering. She was humanely euthanized and laid to rest on April 18, 2013. |
